Tube delights

THIS preview gives TV viewers a glimpse of what the interesting shows are up for screening on ntv7 and 8TV next year. With ntv7 and 8TV as the No.1 and No.2 Chinese networks respectively. Chinese programmes naturally dominate the primetime hours. More excitingly, ntv7 hosts Malaysia’s very first Chinese television awards dubbed The Golden Awards next year while Jay Chou’s much-awaited Pandamen premieres on 8TV. Here’s a look at other goodies in store.

Local series

Crossings: About a guy who keeps getting possessed by ghosts who need his help.

Moonlight Resonance

What Men Want: A reality-docu-drama based on “what men actually want”.

Malaysia’s Most Inspirational: A TV special event to celebrate the country’s most inspirational individuals.

Others include Friends Forever (starring Julian Hee, Melvin Sia, Tracy Lee), Glowing Embers, Glittering Days, Neighbourhood (starring Frederick Lee, Danielle Dai, Leslis Chai, Mayjune Tan) and Age Of Glory 2.

TVB dramas

Steps: A modern dance drama revolving around the trials and tribulations in the lives of ballroom dance enthusiasts. Cast: Steven Ma, Bernice Liu, Kate Tsui, Wayne Lai and Fala Chen.

Forensic Heroes 2: A cop thriller about the lives of officers from the forensic division of the police force. Cast: Bobby Au-Yeung, Frankie Lam, Kevin Cheng and Charmaine Sheh.

Fathers & Sons: A family drama of relationships between fathers and sons of different ages and from all walks of life. Cast: Bobby Au-Yeung, Wong Hei, Tavia Yeung, Yoyo Mung and Anne Heung.

Hollywood series

V: A reimagining of the famous 1980s sci-fi series about alien invasion. Cast: Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chestnut and Joel Gretsch.

Eastwick: A comedic adaptation of a John Updike novel about witches discovering their powers. Cast: Ashley Benson, Jon Bernthal and Veronica Cartwright.

Glee: The hot, new musical- comedy drama starring Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jayma Mays and Cory Monteith.

Drop Dead Diva: About a model who suddenly has a plus-size body. Cast: Brooke Elliott, Margaret Cho and Jackson Hurst.

The Deep End: A legal dramedy about four young new lawyers from diverse backgrounds who join a prestigious law firm. Cast: Matt Long, Ben Lawson, Tina Majorino and Leah Pipes.

100 Questions: About a woman looking for Mr Right, it stars Sophie Winkleman, Amir Talai, Elizabeth Ho and Joy Suprano.

8TV

Korean series

Boys Over Flowers: About an ordinary girl from a poor family who transfers to a high school where the students are from wealthy families. She gets involved with four handsome boys. Cast: Koo Hyee-sun, Lee Min-ho, Kim Hyun-joong, Kim Joon and Kim Bum.

No Limit: Bong-gun is a soccer player with great potential who wants to become a member of the national soccer team. While working towards his goal he meets Hae-bin, an attractive and independent rookie sports agent whom he constantly bickers with. Cast: Jung Yun-ho, Koh Ah-ra and Lee Sang-yun.

Brilliant Legacy: Revolves around Eun-seong who goes from rags to riches when she inherits a fortune left to her, but not from her family. Cast: Han Hyo-ju, Lee Seung-ki, Bae Su-bin and Mun Chae-won.

Taiwan and China series

Pandamen: Two superheroes Panda Superman and Panda Heroic take up the responsibility of protecting citizens and restoring justice to Bright City when the Violent Group headed by Tiger and Wolf threaten to destroy it. Cast: Jay Chou, Jerry Yan, Eric Tsang and Wilber Pan.

The Heaven Sword And The Dragon Sabre: A well-known legend in the martial arts world where the one who wields the Dragon Sabre and the Heaven Sword will reign supreme. Cast: Deng Chao, Shi Lei, Ady An and Liu Jing.

TVB dramas

Wars Of In-Laws 2: The controlling Ophelia reluctantly accepts the sweet but clumsy Siu Man as her daughter-in-law when her son plans to elope with the girl. Cast: Liza Wang, Myolie Wu, Bosco Wong and Joyce Tang.

D.I.E.: The “Death Investigation Extension” (D.I.E.) in the police force was set up to look into unsolved cases. Yue Chi Long, who has cracked some difficult cases using his extrasensory power, is assigned to the D.I.E. There, he faces some real challenges. Cast: Sonija Kwok, Roger Kwok, Kenneth Ma and Margie Tsang.

Moonlight Resonance: This drama revolves around a married man who destroys his own family when he falls for a younger woman. Cast: Louise Lee, Ha Yu, Michelle Yim, Raymond Lam and Linda Chung.

Hollywood series

Flash Forward: An unexplained cataclysmic event knocks out the entire population of the world and everyone glimpses their own future at the same moment and wakes up to chaos. Los Angeles FBI agent Mark Benford is desperate to stop what is coming. Cast: Joseph Fiennes, Sonya Walger, John Cho and Christine Woods.

Past Life: Sometimes, when the soul is in conflict, memories surface. But what if the memories belong to others and you could use them to solve crimes and rectify past wrongs? Cast: Kelli Giddish, Nicholas Bishop, Richard Schiff and Ravi Patel.

The Vampire Diaries: Elena becomes fascinated by the mysterious new boy in school, Stefan Salvatore, unaware that he is a vampire. Cast: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder and Steven R. McQueen.

10 Things I Hate About You: Sisters Bianca and Kat Stratford may be in the same family, but they live in different worlds. Studying in the same high school, Bianca wants to fit in while Kat wants to stand out. Cast: Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Larry Miller and Dana Davis.
