Chance to work it with Missy Elliott

PETALING JAYA: Hip-hop fans can get ready to work it with five-time Grammy Award winner Missy Elliott on Saturday.

The 36-year-old is set to perform at the Xpax XLive Festival 2008 to be held at Genting Highlands.

Missy Elliott is expected to arrive in Kuala Lumpur today.

According to Pervert Music managing director and organiser Kenneth Chan, Malaysians are in for a spectacular show.

“Missy Elliott has built up a huge following of fans across the world over the years. We are pleased to be able to bring her here to perform live,” he said, when contacted yesterday.

“This is going to be an awesome experience for all, especially with all the various acts going on. There is something for everyone.”

Widely acknowledged as one of hip-hop’s most progressive and consistent artistes, Missy Elliott is no stranger to fantastic “live” shows.

At Genting, the Virginia-born star’s show is expected to feature a stage entourage the size of two soccer teams including hypeman, musicians and dancers.

She is also likely to have a magic show routine slotted in during her concert.

She seems set to perform hits like We Run This, Get Ur Freak On, Work it, Gossip Folks, Pass That Dutch and Lose Control.

There will be three stages – Xlive Main Stage, Xl-Tronic and Xlr8 – at the festival to ensure that not everything will be too eclectic, hip-hop and “indie” in entertainment value, said Chan.

He said the “party-hardened audience” would have the usual tech-trance and tech-house music from festival fodder names like Dan “The Automator” Nakamura, DJ Yoji, Filo & Peri, Marcus Schossow and Alhaca.

Local acts include Stylustiks and Spaceship featuring Goldfish and T-Bone, RaySoo, B4C, Gregoire Pagnoux, Lap Sap and Twilight Actiongirl.

Doors open at 7pm and tickets are priced at RM118 (pre-sale), RM188 (door-sale) and RM258 (VIP). For details visit www.xlivefestival.com or call Axcess at 03-77115000. Hotline: 1-300-88-0969.
