Wild about making films
Animal Planet has returned to the world-renowned Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa for a brand new season of Unearthed to discover who's got what it takes to make it as a wildlife filmmaker.
In the second series, four amateurs from different walks of life around the globe have been chosen to participate in an intensive filmmaking course – where they will experience all-new challenges and all-new rivalries.
In the end, only one will be crowned Animal Planet's Unearthed Wildlife Filmmaker of the Year.
The amateur filmmakers, who come from different continents include Sebastian (New Zealand), Mayuri (India), Jorge (Mexico) and Amabel (Britain). They carry out their challenges at Shamwari, ultimately competing to have their own short film broadcast to the world.
Filmmaker Lyndal Davies will prepare participants for wildlife in Unearthed 2 . The show follows the budding directors from the start of their arrival in Shamwari. Wildlife filmmakers Lyndal Davies and Andrew Barren drill the participants and prepare them for the unpredictable wildlife and filming obstacles they will encounter along the journey.
As the team learns about capturing footage in the wild, they also learn to cope with various challenges. The final episode showcases all four films at a gala awards ceremony where a team of expert judges chose who will be Animal Planet's Unearthed Wildlife Filmmaker of the Year.
Animal Planet continues to uncover the wildlife filmmakers of the future, and will begin production on the next series of Unearthed later this year. The network will begin accepting applications for contestants to be featured in the third series.
