Rose auditions

  • The musicals just keep on coming, don’t they? Integrated Expressions is proud to announce its latest production, Rose Rose I Love You, inspired by the life and times of Rose Chan, the infamous erotic dance queen of Malaya.

Rose Rose I Love You is slated to be staged at the Genting International Showroom, beginning Nov 2.

Directed by Low Ngai Yuen with music direction by Penny Low, Rose Rose I Love You marks the second collaboration between Penny and Ngai Yuen since their highly successful The Girl from Ipoh two years ago, which won the Kakiseni Audience Choice Award for Theatre and Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2005.

Rose Rose I Love You is set during the post war period of the 1950s and centres around a travelling company of performers whose nightly earnings are dictated by the quantity of positive audience applause.

“Despite the show’s title and inspiration,” says Ngai Yuen, “the story is not based on any particular person but represents instead a composite of people we have read or heard about or met. We hope to convey that besides the glamour of being a performer or entertainer, the flip side of the coin is that fame and notoriety can sometimes be a double-edged sword.”

Rose Rose I Love You is written by Yim Mei Choo and Ngai Yuen and features a stellar cast comprising Carmen Soo, Tony Eusoff, KK Wong, Tin Tan, Ling Tan, Lim Tiong Wooi, Gan Hui Yee, Angie Teoh, Anrie Too and Colleen Daphne Chung.

If you think you can sing, dance and act, why not hop on down to the auditions this Saturday at 21, Jalan 21/37, Sea Park, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, between noon and 5pm. Integrated Expressions is looking for both men and women above 18. Contact Cathy Chin (012-5117716 / e-mail: cathychinkl@hotmail.com) for more information.
